Sustainable Tourism
Sustaining the destinations we visit is of great importance to us at Grand European Tours. We are part of a joint initiative by The Travel Corporation (TTC) family of brands called TreadRight; a not for profit working to ensure that the environment and communities we explore remain vibrant for future generations.
TreadRight
TreadRight is a not-for-profit foundation established by The Travel Corporation to encourage sustainable tourism within our own family of brands, and in the places we visit. To date, TreadRight has committed more than USD 1.5 million to sustainable tourism projects worldwide and encourages industry best practice by annually supporting the World Travel & Tourism Council’s Tourism for Tomorrow awards.
TreadRight reflects the commitment The Travel Corporation has made to adopting responsible business practices, and our work to create a more sustainable future. To learn more about the many projects TreadRight is funding please visit us at www.treadright.org.
Travel Lightly
We’re pleased to note that coach travel has been proven* to emit less carbon or greenhouse gases on a per passenger basis than either train or car travel. Further, our coach fleet is among the best in Europe and is continually upgraded to adopt the most fuel-efficient engines available.
We’ve also taken the step to ensure our tour catalog is printed on SFI-certified paper. The Sustainable Forestry Initiative’s 2010-2014 Certification Standard is based on principles and measures that promote sustainable forest management and consider all forest values. It includes unique fiber sourcing requirements to promote responsible forest management on all forestlands in North America. By choosing SFI-certified paper, we demonstrate our commitment to improve forest management.
